I watched the t.V. show Bull the other night and learned that some folks don\'t really give much thought to details and they are generally referred to as conceptual thinkers. Another group of observers notice details and a single one of which can sway their thinking one way or another.
While I had no wager on the race and guessing you did. A detail that along with the odds on #4 would challenge my objectivity. Yet,as a conceptual thinker (which I believe I am) I saw the trip of #4 much like the chart read. Bumped hard at the start and squeezed from both sides. Proceeding sluggishly at the rear of the field while never threatening the other quintet until the stretch when hitting best stride. I don\'t imagine the early bump affected the result much at all. But again, that is a conceptual view.
The race involved significant bumping and swerving yet no one was killed and no assault charges were filed. From a personal responsibility perspective I would be kicking myself for playing the horse anywhere except in the third slot of the Tri.
I\'m still recovering from Breeder\'s Cup hangover so considering racing or any race anywhere is still difficult for me.
With all that said, I think I can appreciate your point of view here!
I actually had the winner (if you can believe that) meant no diff to me
but if every race had a situation like that something would have to be changed

Had no skin in the game, but I think it is downright DISGUSTING and SHAMEFUL that the stewards didn\'t bother to put up an inquiry.
As for taking the horse down, unfortunately we have multiple precedents where they refuse to take horses down for gate infractions. That said, hard to see that start, that hard slam into the 4 by the 3, and say \"the foul had no impact on the result\".
It just makes me wonder what the stewards are doing during the races when you have a horse veer sharply out of the gate, knock another horse very hard and see that horse drop way back, and the stewards don\'t bother to take a look at it. I can accept an inquiry without a DQ, but not even looking at it is just ridiculous.

Hey Jim ,
the trainer of the 4 claimed foul

Phillywheel,
That was exactly my point. Three stewards asleep at the wheel, requiring a trainer to lodge an objection.
Poor.
