Title: Shipping In
Post by: johnnym on October 26, 2016, 04:56:07 AM
How can one find out when a horse shipped in for a race?
Specifically the BCC.
Thanks

Johnny TGJB will cover some of that in the Analysis. Some people line Assmussen ship in early. There are others like the East Coast people who traditionally don\'t. A big flock of NY based horses almost didn\'t get out there a few years back because of Sandy...

Any comments of mine are based only on published workouts, and if anyone has better info about when they get in I think we would all appreciate it if you posted it here. Looks like Asmussen didn\'t bring Gun Runner in early.

I would also be interested in knowing where Run Happy was training before he ran at SA last winter, same for Effinex in March (I suspect GP).

Alicia Wincze-Hughes of the BloodHorse reports on October 22nd that:

\"Tepin and the rest of the Casse Breeders\' Cup contingent are slated to have their final works at Churchill Oct 28 and ship to California Oct 31.\"

Per a tweet from Alicia for Romans horse Not This Time on 10/22:

\"Ships tomorrow (October 23rd) to Santa Anita for BC.\"

Depends on what you mean by early.  GR shipped in last week and in fact worked at SA on Sunday, 5f in 1:00 and 2, very impressive work at that.

I believe Gun Runner (and other Assmussen\'s) flew out last week on Tuesday (18th) so he will have two works over the track (worked Sun 23rd plus one more next week)

Frosted and Happy and the Mott\'s flew out last Sunday (23rd)

Effinex, sadly, still not there yet - flies out today:

Effinex and Jerkens's other Classic contender, Shaman Ghost, are scheduled to ship to Santa Anita on Wednesday (26th). Jerkens said both horses will have one work at Santa Anita, though he isn't looking to do much with Effinex, who just finished second in the Jockey Club Gold Cup on Oct. 8.

Brown\'s/TAP\'s all still back east too - imagine some may go on flight today but don\'t have that definite.

By The Moon, by the by, has been there since early Oct.

That was going to be my next question directed towards Jerry.
Last time the BCC was held out west, Jerry made it a point in the seminar that he did not like late arriving east coast shippers.
Question is what is considered late?
Thanks for the reply\'s.

I found an article on Blood Horse from last year which said Runhappy\'s 1st work at SA in preparation for the Malibu was Dec. 8th, a 6f work.

TVG showed Frosted and Mott\'s horses getting off the van at SA after the last race on Sunday.

Lookin at Lee also shipped out with Gun Runner last Tues and worked 5F over the weekend at Santa Anita.

Not This Time was on the track at SA this morning looking swell.  Those may be the only two non-CA horses for the Juvy who\'ve arrived at SA.

Daddy\'s Lil Darlin for the Juv Fillies has been there since last week too and worked over the weekend.  That filly isn\'t bad.

Mind Your Biscuits has also been at SA for a few days.  Texas Chrome was shipping in today I believe.

I\'m now curious as to when he\'ll ship in this time, because one of the reasons they gave for firing Maria was Maria wanted to keep the horse in Ky and the owners wanted him at SA to prep for the Malibu and later races.  He shipped in Dec 3rd last year.

Most of the East Coast horses that shipped out late. Pletchers were terrible. Chad Brown had a few who rN solidly. Lady Eli won. Bobbies Kitten (?)won down the hill Sprint. He had a mare in the Filly Turf who ran about as good as she could for a 3rd (?). Whatever Brown is doing it seems to be working everywhere!!
