Has paid out $1mm on Hillary 2 weeks before election- I read it first on a poll I follow- princeton Election Consortium- and confirmed it on their website. Be great if they paid out horse racing bets at 1/16 the pole!
Paddy certainly puts the B in bookmaker!!!
They did the same thing before the 2011 Rugby World Cup final where the host country New Zealand was such a huge favorite over France they paid all tickets before the match. The final score was New Zealand 8 France 7.
Not sure why they even do that. If they did it for Brexit they would have had a problem .
Free publicity maybe?
Yeah I\'m pretty convinced they do this for publicity... They paid about $1mmUSD in bets which to a bookie that big, really ain\'t that much of a hit.
They also paid out early on the 2012 election, and here we all are talking about it.
It has gone wrong for them at least 1-2. It\'s incredibly good advertising, along the lines of a poker room or a race track that guarantees a minimum prize pool and ends up funding an overlay.
Actually not a hit at all, if she wins ;-)
Yep, exactly, advertising freeroll for a company who in 2014 had revenue of about 900mm euro and profit of 150ish million.
Lots of advocates on this board for lowering takeout rates. Increase in churn is supposed to be beneficial in the long-run for the racetrack economy.
Surely those same people support the Republican idea of lowering tax rates for the same reasons? Even the name fits: Clueless (Clinton) Clowns.
surprised they\'re paying out on a rigged event, shouldn\'t they just refund all wagers, LOL...they\'re still offering other bets on the election though. 13/5 on hrc landing between 47-49.99% is somewhat tempting. slightly under 2-1 for between 330-359 electoral votes, @ 2-1 on +360.
was hoping to see a line on dems taking both house and senate, thought it might be worth a flyer here nearly three weeks out; there\'s potential for a wave turning into a tsunami and now would be the time to get a price on it, but they don\'t have anything, unless i\'m missing it.
(EDIT: The above is strictly a wagering opinion. The above is a wagering opinion only. In no way does the above suggest, imply, hint at, or advocate for any particular political philosophy or ideology. I will of course be waiting to make a voting decision until I see final sheets on all contenders. I hear the folks across the street have the CP-USA sitting on a big new top. Will it be enough?)
I literally wouldn\'t know where to begin in response...
Feel free to comment on the horse race aspect of the election, anything else will come down.
I think they might have jumped the gun on paying out that coin. Odds now 3-1 or less on trump, off the 5, 6-1 recent highs, after FBI reopens case against CH
This is Forego closing in on Honest Pleasure. Does DT get up in time? He always loved those \"sweeping turns.\"
Good Luck,
Joe B.
This whole election is playing out like a dime novel.
Script would have been rejected as too trashy by even the most jaded of producers.
It sets up a great prop bet should Honest Pleasure hang on.
Impeachment Hearings vs Inauguration which will happen first?
Just for fun - a friend at work told me she recently went to an astrologer\'s convention. They had a panel discussion on the election. The consensus is, after studying everyone\'s charts, Hillary will win the election, but will not get inaugurated. They couldn\'t agree on why - health, impeachment, etc. Consensus is Kaine is our next prez.
In the words of Miff \"psycho babble\"
Impeachment Hearings +130
Inauguration - 150
Turns out it\'s mostly you jumping the gun (and a handful of geniuses like Chaffetz).
The FBI hasn\'t reopened anything, even Ted Cruz, that beacon of equanimity, hasn\'t claimed that.

If you don\'t think this is serious -- well -- I don\'t know what to say. This is not a political forum but no way Comey \"continues this investigation\" unless he has become knowledgeable about something -- very serious.
Now, Play Ball. Go Cubs and looking forward to a fantastic BC next week!
Comey actually said in the letter he didn\'t know whether it was pertinent. We\'ll see where it goes.

But he sure made it pertinent by saying he didn\'t know if it was pertinent. I read his letter 3 times and came away with different impressions every time.
Lol Frank. I doubt she will be impeached. Probably more likely allowed to run the Country from jail ala Lucky Luciano ran The Family and The Commission from his jail cell.
One family
Two impeached President?

By the time I posted that yesterday, it was 100% a known thing that Comey was *not* reopening an investigation - as TGJB said, in his letter Comey specifically said they didn\'t know whether it mattered (or what \'it\' was, or how long it would take to figure those things out).
By now, it appears clear that the emails in question were sent by an aide, not by HRC. In fact, sources are suggesting that many, or even all, of the emails could be duplicates of emails already produced.
Beyond that, Comey has sent a second letter, internal, which of course has gone wide, in which he basically acknowledges that he fucked this up in a very meaningful way.
Next you\'ll be telling us the emails consisted entirely of Groupon offers and Nigerian phishing scams.
How about we get back to racing, BC less than a week away.
Go over to the Fox website if you want to talk about this stuff.
And yes, looks like the markets and the early payout bookmakers got it WRONG yet again. (see Brexit)
As horseplayers, we should be well acquainted with how wrong the public often is.
Anyone know if Donald is a horseplayer? Maybe his wife?
Market down maybe 1K by tomorrow. Buy the dip, and hope for the best.
Dow already -700 and I think its an overreaction.
some of that 6-1 + action on Trump looks like a gift now
I believe that he is very much not a fan of racing, FWIW. He really dislikes baseball as well.
He\'s 1/50 now and she\'s 10-1. The most she can hope for now is a tie which deep sixes her presidency but floats the possibility of Kaine as VP. Never befor in my lifetime has this country been so f\'d up. Not even Nixon. And coming on the heels of one of the most eloquent presidents in modern times just articulates how divided this country still is. Racing\'s problems are a speck of dust compared to this.
Thanks Jerry and I endorse this message. God help us. It\'s like Rick\'s Natural Star winning the BC Turf.
Though in fact he did mention Secretariat in his victory speech, and the bronze statue in the paddock. I think Sham might have been a little more appropriate.
Trump mentioned Secretariat in his post election speech at 3AM.
Guess you could have just deleted the post as a response.
BTW, Cornell is offering Play-doh to grief-stricken students. Time for a road trip?
Anybody who has not lived under a rock for the last 30 years, racing fan or not, knows who Secretariat was.
He also said there is a bust of Secretariat at Belmont. Either he doesn\'t know the difference between a bust and a full statue or he is mixing up his facts again.
Trump was at Derby a few years with his to be wife Melania. They were there together in the old Turf Club and appeared to have come alone. Casually enjoying the scene. I actually caught her checking me out.
They were friendly. He was having a good time. Leave it at that.
If that isn\'t a political post I don\'t know what is. I guess your the only one allowed to do that.
Your analogy of comparing a lower takeout to Trump\'s plan to mainly lower taxes on the super rich like himself and his friends is incorrect. His plan is more like mainly lowering the takeout on big bettors. If your going to make inappropriate political posts, please get your facts straight.
You talking to me?? I didn\'t post on that subject at all, unless I\'m really getting senile. And as tempting as it is, I\'m not going after your ridiculous analogy. This stuff ends here.
I was responding to Paolo\'s post. It was also a reference to the fact that his political post was allowed to remain up despite your stated policy.
The only ridiculous analogy was that of Paolo\'s unless you wish to defend that against valid criticism.
For your analogy to hold high earners would have to be paying a lower tax rate than lower earners, just for starters. Enough, I mean it.
