The greed of the sport is such a turnoff to me.
Maybe they were not aware how much Curlin colts improve at 4..

In order to keep him happy, his barn will be surrounded by a field of mud where he can run around all day and be the fastest stud at the farm.

My guess, they either found something they couldn\'t fix or they couldn\'t figure out what was wrong.

Rather than ruin his rep with more non efforts, retirement.

Or perhaps horses aren\'t machines that develop based off a script or a what a piece of paper says, and the people who are around the horse everyday noticed he isnt the same anymore, and it probably would be putting him at risk to keep shoving him back in the starting gate???

This colt doesnt seem like the typical Curlin given his precocity at 2. It is foolish to expect just because the form says \"Curlin\" in the pedigree that he will be even better at 4. It IS posible that this horse just developed early and those high levels took their toll.

Or maybe retire him now with some question about his real talent left unanswered rather than race him another year and eliminate any doubt.
