Title: Sunday Seminar Recap
Post by: Sean D on September 04, 2016, 09:01:08 PM
Seminar was held in the backyard for first time with Siro\'s unavailable.

Frank D, Top Cat and Belmont3 were in attendance.

1st race: TGJB liked the winner and the Rudy horse.

3rd race: Against Pletcher horse and wide Johnny V in a 3 turn race.

4th race: Pass

5th race: TGJB had the winner on a recovery line from top early in year that set horse back.

6th race: Pass

7th race: Open race, but noted that winner was first time Jason Servis.

8th race: Pass

9th race: Key race of day - Thought the 3 was very interesting - Ran big over the winter and was in a recovery cycle.

10th race: Do not try to beat the Chad Brown filly on first lasix.

11th race: There were a number of options - but don\'t dismiss former Preciado import from Florida. Dearest had a good pattern.

12th race: Open race - Noted the 9 was first time grass.

It turned out to be a VERY profitable weekend for the crew in the backyard.

Thanks to TGJB and TGAB for sharing their handicapping skill this summer.

Also, big thanks to Uncle Bill for getting up early each day and securing our prime backyard location.

The camaraderie of the backyard makes for fun filled days.

Thanks to Frank D for lunch today and Belmont3 for dessert.

I need to rest tomorrow due to my medical adventures.  I look forward to seeing everyone next year

Can you explain to me why there is such a discrepancy between the seminar and the analysis that\'s sold online?

1st - No surprises here. Box—Don't Point, Skill Not Luck, Instant Replay. B-.

2nd - Turf—Priest N the Rabbi needed his last. Eligible to improve stretching out 2nd off the layoff. Priest N the Rabbi to Win at 4-1 & up, Box w/Mr. Sam. B.

3rd - Turf—The favorites look good here. Box—Request, Ectot. B-. Dirt—Street Fashion to Win. B.

BB4th - Millenial is gaining condition and should continue forward progress. Millenial to Win at 8-1 & up, 3H Box w/Moves Like Ali, Commandeering. B.

5th - Manipulated, recently gelded, makes belated 3yo debut. Need not be much better than last year to boss these. Manipulated to Win at 2-1 & up. B-.

6th - Turf—No surprises here. Jo's Bold Cat is fastest of those that have run. New York's Finest and Song for the Soul are bred to handle. Box those 3. B-. Use the latter two on dirt. B-.

BB7th - Turf—Urban Bourbon, inside, gets weight from elders, is speedy and cycling forward at a price. Urban Bourbon to Win at 12-1 & up, 3H Box w/Market Strength, Yowl. B. Dirt—Urban Bourbon to Win. B.

8th - Malibu Stella ran well in debut and should benefit switching to dirt. Malibu Stella to Win at 5-1 & up, 3H Box w/Krazy Kathy, Posse Needed (if in), otherwise Teresa Z. B.

BB9th - Angry Moon is cycling forward and switches back to his best surface. Angry Moon to Win at 9-1 & up, 3H Box w/Mewannarose, Ocean Knight/Iron Fist entry. B.

10th - Turf—Gotachancetodance worked down to fastest figure here before layoff. May need more ground but goes for a layoff trainer and is a price. Gotachancetodance to Win at 6-1 & up, 3H Box w/ Mexican Gold, ($2), Kitzys Rocket. B. Dirt—Box—Mexcian Gold, Daring Sky, Coming Attraction. B.

11th - Takrees' stakes-less status means she's co-lightweight. Her slight forward move 7 weeks ago augurs for even better today. She'll be coming late at a price. Takrees to Win at 15-1 & up, use w/ Off The Tracks, Dearest, Appealing Maggie in exotics. B.

12th - Turf or Dirt--Box—Salty Mo, Yes Its Factual, Fired up Sensation. B-.

Alan did the analysis, I did the seminar. I would note we both liked Angry Moon. Aside from different handicapping thoughts (which you\'ll get even from
those sitting together who attended the same seminar), making specific plays 24 hours out is different than just giving general opinions. In the case of the Prioress, by then it started to look like you could bet against all McGlaughlins, so Lucy went from being borderline to a use for many of us. I
Personally played a 3 horse box.

Angry Moon was a good call. And the back figures for some of the double digit winners were there as well. It is all about the read. 👁
