Title: Thurs picks
Post by: sekrah on September 01, 2016, 04:21:01 PM
8 races yesterday, cashed in 4 of them: Two winners (14.40 and 9.80), a soft trifecta, a cold exacta in a 3-horse field, and a 22-1 shot missed by a nose.  Not too bad and nearly a blockbuster night.

Going to play a few tonight, let\'s start at the Pig Pen.

Penn National 4th

#5 Saint Finian is moving to a big move-up barn and getting 7 pounds and an inside trip here.  My key, but there\'s an interesting price horse here in the 10-year old, #4 Mission Gap has strong connections and a figure to win here.  Runs well with a little layoff.

Del Mar 6th

#3 Who Said Lucky gets back to the dirt after some blistering works.  Not a bad price for the fastest in the field and Terry Knight runs well off the layoff.

LOL, what an awful ride.  Kent tried the parking lot route.

Canterbury 1st

#5 Superstar Leo always runs well and rarely poorly on the dirt. Very happy if we get this 5/2 on this one in a 6 horse field.

Penn National 5th

#7 Ransom Past Due is long past due for a move forward.  Not the greatest long-term conditioning pattern but the 12s on turf may have actually been superior races to the rest of these horses considering RPD is not even remotely bred for the grass.  The July 20th figure then makes sense.  Good rest into this, a dirt top is pending.

Del Mar 7th

Really can\'t trust this favorite, Curlin\'s Fox, to be ready to go 1 mile off the layoff with a sketchy workout pattern.  I think she\'ll need a race.

#5 Dreamarcher deserves a faster fig for his last race. Didn\'t break that great off a 51.1 half to finish with some force.  Probably 7 1/2 was deserved, making him a deadly pattern that\'s 2 points away from lighting up the toteboard at 20-1.  Must use I think.

Okay, found a strong play in Canterbury\'s 2nd race.

Beach Flower has run just once on the grass and it was 2nd off a layoff when something went sour.

Paired up his top on the slop last time out and comes back to the turf here.  Super explosive pattern here in my opinion.  Wish I had a better price than 2-1, but this horse looks set to me.

Horrible ride. There\'s some bad jockeys out there.  Broke sharp and was just pulled to the back of the field.

Canterbury 3rd

Really like the turf prospects of two here.. First #8 Perfect Karma, who is getting backed heavily, but also #7 Whos Yor Shindaddy at a nice price.

Keying them both on top of exactas.
