If anyone just watched the Spa 8th, I\'m retiring the wide from Mike Smith.
Please someone explain to me like I\'m a 5 yr old the purpose of having the rail in a 2 turn race? After your explanation I would love to send it to Johnny V.
Disclaimer: Yes I had a large pick 3 into Flipcup as well as pick 4\'s into the 1,2,4,7 in the last race. Yes my favorite Cinco de Mayo friend told me that he sat on this horse after she was eased in her last, he assured me she was doing great and SeƱor Mott entered Isabelle strictly as a rabbit to ensure a pace for her to close into.
JJ from the 10 hole breaks, goes 2W into the first turn and JV from the rail ends up outside him 4W on the 2nd turn from the rail!!!! Call it sour grapes, don\'t know if Flipcup was even good enough but this ridiculous ride never gave her a chance.
Wide John Velasquez, Wider than anyone, he must have a total and complete aversion to the rail.
The 7 hole out is 0 for 15 at this meet while the rail is 8/29 in 2 turn routes.
I believe this is the 4th winner in the past 10 years beyond the 8 hole going 2 Spa turns.
Frank:
I watched the last 2 today and was also a little surprised at Flipcup\'s inside
out trip.
Rudyrod and DJake apparently no longer auto Spa toss outs.
The #1 in Race 9 was interesting, dead last behind slowish fractions and closed
decently to split the field in fifth. Joins the Mott/Flay turf maiden whose name
I do not remember on the bet back list.
As others have said, excellent work on the Saturday Spa weather forecast.
Wow Frank thanks for that tid bit regarding the 7/8 hole going 2 turns.
Will defenitly remember that.
Was the Mott/Flay turf maiden - Street Strut who is entered on Wednesday?
Just read the chart...Flipcup...4 wide 2nd turn, 5 wide at the 1/4 pole...Frank...you have EVERY reason to have an issue with JV\'s ride...in he backyard last week both Bill and I were discussing JV\'s recent propensity in going wide (I mentioned that JV reminded me of Julie Krone in the latter part of her career)
Sorry to hear it Frank. Keep making good bets, it\'s all you can do.
On the nickname front, I googled for a translation of \"wide\" into spanish, and they tell me that \"lejos\" means \"away\" or \"far far away\" or even \"aloof\" which seems particularly apt for Mr. Velazquez!
Maybe we can keep Wide Mike, and Johnny V can be Lejos Velazquez?
Spa:
In the words of our host\'s favorite performing artist, She\'s the one.
I think with the presence of a Chad Brown money burner, a Michael Dickinson
runner coming off a good second at Belmont, and a TAP/Javier filly, Street
Strut\'s 6/1 ML odds might be double that at post time.
Positives: Street Strut is logical Thorographically. She shows a bullet half mile
work on August 11 at Belmont, and Mott does not usually ask much in the morning.
She moves from post 10 in her debut to a ground saving inside post.
Questionable: This filly was stabled at Saratoga earlier in the summer and
apparently shipped to Belmont after her maiden voyage.
Suggestion: TG could add \"Trainer Profile\" category showing a trainer\'s record
with fillies/mares.
Temp,
Muchas Gracias, I love it and I promise you by the end of the meet I\'ll have it all over the backside!
Viva Johnny Lejos Velazquez

TP:
For those of us who believe that English should never be a second language
here in the US of A, might I suggest we change \"Johnny V\" to \"Johnny W\"
T-generates could always call him \"Johnny 2.9\"
Ironic that on the same day Frank ranted, horse racing\'s most notable rail
rider, Calvin Borel, announced he is returning to race riding.
No action on the race but, if I bet the one hole, two bends, and my jock gives that same ride, I\'m pretty happy with his effort. bbb
