Title: Belmont Stakes
Post by: sekrah on June 11, 2016, 03:11:43 PM
Been bouncing around between the fastest horses here, and I\'ve decided to settle on Destin.

Ran deceptively well in the Derby despite:

1. Dealing with that huge new top from Tampa.
2. 6 weeks without a race
3. Bad start
4. Dirt kicked in face for first time.

All in all, I think it\'s extremely impressive that the horse fired a 2 at 1 1/4 miles that day considering the circumstances. Should get a nice inside trip here without much traffic to deal with as most of the field are closers.

12 weeks ago he ran a race that would beat anyone in this field today. He\'s coming back to it.

As Jimbo has pointed out, the big question is how the Pletchers are running today. McGlaughlins running okay-- Frosted probably gets the best figure ever.

He had a nice winner yesterday in the Jersey Girl.  Anchor Down ran well in the Met Mile.

I\'m not concerned about the \"Pletcher factor\" in New York.  If he\'s having a cold day up here, it\'s usually just variance.

I had GM as well. He was without a doubt finishing in the money if he doesn\'t get stopped twice.
