I am probably not searching \"the cloud\" in the right way for the answer to
this question, but when was the last time that there was a maiden
participating in all three legs of the Triple Crown?
Good question--I was going to say 1999, since Valhol was stripped of his win in the Arkansas Derby and was still a maiden, and I thought that Teletable was a maiden in the Belmont, but the latter actually had actually broken his maiden in his previous start. How many maidens have in fact started in the Belmont? I think it\'s a good bit fewer than in the Derby.
The Derby\'s own site says that records before 1937 are \"incomplete\". Considering the Derby winners in 1884, 1919, and 1933 were maidens themselves, there were probably maidens in all three races some years in the distant past, back before they became the \"Triple Crown\". If you want to work on the last 80 years, there were maidens in the Derby in 1998, 1990, 1979, 1971, 1959, 1958, 1950, 1949, and 1945. I couldn\'t find similar lists for the Preakness and Belmont though.
What year was Nationalore? Was that 1998? Pletcher had a maiden in the Belmont a couple of years ago. But it\'s rare--even Guyana Star Dweebj had a victory.
Off the top of my head,
Brokers Tip 1933 maiden...literally \'nipped\' Head Play (ain\'t going there) and won the Kentucky Derby with Fightin Donnie Meade aboard.
Tip bounced in the Preakness and finished last. Derby rival Head Play won.
Tip did not run in the Belmont.

Page 12 of 50 on this link lists all Belmont starters alphabetically.
Might help

I believe Guadualcanal was a maiden in 2008 and Nolan\'s Cat in 2005
