If you\'re going to rub it in their face , today is a good day to do it, you can cash into the big pools, and save for retirement.

It just gets so discouraging. I\'ve made it a point to pass on races involving
RR, DJ, MN etc. and I was aware of JN\'s record in Florida. I trusted there was no juice in mint julips.

He must be getting pretty good at hiding it.  He got XY Jet by the sheikhs.

So what if he was banned at Tampa...

Scroll to 32:20 or so to catch the entire Jan 2015 Navarro interview.  He is asked about his 60 day ban around 51 minutes.

http://horseracingradio.net/episode/trainer-talk-joan-scott-and-jorge-navarro

Julien Canet his step-father taught him everything he knows.  He was a \"leg\" man.

Marcial his brother.

Best line of the interview is that everyone needs to quit worrying what Navarro or Jamie Ness are doing.  Oh, and that he is has an \"old school\" approach.

Worked for a vet for a while.  Interesting things here.

I feel certain that Jorge lets a horse be a horse..........

And this 2012 article has an interesting line also:

 http://tampabaydowns.blogspot.com/2012/03/jorge-navarro-trainer-although-he-has.html

\"There is more to it than training your horse up to a race and picking out the right spot. Once the meeting gets rolling, you usually know what kind of horses enter a certain race. Now, I'll run against anybody, but with a guy like (Tampa Bay Downs leading trainer) Jamie Ness, you might try to avoid some of the spots you think he is going to, because he has some good horses. He is a good trainer, and he has an owner (Richard Papiese of Midwest Thoroughbreds, Inc.) who knows how to play the game.\"

Knows how to play the game.  Interesting.........everyone else must be complete knuckleheads.

I\'m happy to rip the guy but the horse figured, period.  No big deal or jump up for that one to win at all.  Numbers and pattern are there.  Unless you figure a one number Baffert hype job is a guarantee.  I may be naive but I\'ve seen so much worse.

Coincidence that the race was first with trainer? The horse needed to jump up to be competitive. He dominated horses that routinely run -2 and faster. You think the horse figured. I think the trainer figured.

What number were you predicting for him a -4?

I\'m not a fan of these types of trainers either.

However, you\'re wrong about this race.  The horse wasn\'t impossible.  As HP said, solid figures and a nice pattern. First race as a 4YO he gets right back to his 3YO top, which was a 1. The horse was fast enough without a trainer change, provided the others didn\'t pop a -2.

I wouldn\'t say the other horses \"routinely\" run -2 and faster. Have they run negative numbers?  Sure.  Doesn\'t mean they had to. Kobe just ran 2 cons negative races for the first time in his life as a 5YO, and he has a history of wide trips. Calculator a big jump to -2 that had everyone here predicting bounce. Holy Boss ran a pair of -2 last year and hasn\'t reproduced it yet. We\'ve talked about Salutos and where he runs big ones.

Those are your horses that have run a negative number.  None of them \"routinely\" run -2.

I also think its fair to say that horses racing up front had the best of it.

I didn\'t play the horse, but he wasn\'t impossible. A buddy of mine texted after the race he had him. I played HB, and ripped up tickets.

I\'ve seen Cody Autrey have 4-point tops with 6-year olds at Delaware Park.  Yeah, this was small potatoes.

Tavasco if you are talking about Catalina Red I don\'t know about \"horses routinely running -2 or faster.\"  I see Calculator did it once, looked like he could bounce, Holy Boss did it last year and no way of knowing he would get back to it, and Salutos Amigos is a horse that is never going to run those numbers outside of NY (speaking of enhanced testing).  I did not play this horse, I was referring to the other one, Sharp Azteca.

FWIW TVG desk talked obnoxiously long about CR before this race, play of the day, beat XYJet, great price etc etc, I left the house and went to the book so i don\'t know what they said afterwords, but it seemed to me they were really pushing this horse hard pre race? (like two or three different discussions)

I know bettors LOVE to hate Navarro and get even more incredulous of his skills win SeƱor Jorge gasp! does what his job is to do, which is win.  That song and dance is so trite and he doesn\'t need my no-name defending him, but the fact is Jorge won this race last year as well with Private Zone so maybe the guy really does know how to get the cash on the Big Day with a sprinter.

Add in the recent courageous exploits of XY Jet in drug-free Dubai and Private Zone in the 2015 BC Sprint and it begins to makes sense that perhaps he can really get sprinters to peak when it matters, and overall is able to do so with less \"classy\" stock.

And frankly, Catalina made sense at odds considering HB doesn\'t want 7F, Calc and Salutos figured to regress off the Carter, Speighter had fitness questions while facing elders for the first time, and Limousine Liberal was still looking for his first stakes win.

Barbados is the one who I\'m really puzzled about and thought he would bounce back off the dreadful ride he got in the Commonwealth but maybe he\'s more of just a Florida horse.

Navarro\'s other stakes winner last Sat, Sharp Azteca, looks like an easy toss if he shows up as anticipated in the Preakness.  This fella is turning into a bonafied every-other kind who\'s not only coming in with an \"other\" effort likely off the slight new top but also short rest.  I have similar concerns about Nyquist in that same race but all the Internet smartypants tell me that\'s crazy talk, there\'s no way he\'s not winning this Preakness even given the copious speeds, short rest, 2pt new top, the presence of continuously improving Gun Runner, and a volatile Kent D who is riding Exaggerator so determinedly it\'s to the point of reckless.

Land Over Sea also wheeling right back in the Black Eyed Susan and likewise seems to be one to maybe take stand against at a probable short price, although her competition could likely be much less talented than what her stablemate will face.

Line of the day by far: \"My horses don\'t go out and party.\"

Maybe one of Ramon\'s disgruntled employees made it to Jorge\'s Tampa barn this winter.........

Tony,

Like many of us I didn\'t know you had a last name :)

Steve mentioned you winning a qualifier tournament a couple weeks ago on air and when he said NC Tony (close to Montana) the cat was out of the bag!

Congrats and I hope all is well....

Not so funny is the Navarro quote:

\"My attorney said the concentration (of cocaine) was so low that a pilot would be
legally allowed to fly with it...\"

The Grateful Dead need to update \"Casey Jones\":

\"Flyin that plane
High on Cocaine...\"

Frank,

Yes I actually did win an online contest, first one I played in almost 6 years and qualified for the NHC. This will be my 5th entry into the field, twice won under my wife\'s name. Anyway, last name is spelled MONTAN ( INO) vs A.

Doing OK !! I\'m live at Keeneland right now through Sunday, and will be making the annual SPA treck in July/August 2 or 3 long weekends, God willing of course.

Miss the board, been following it.

@ NCTony

PS used the TG sheets to get qualified, the best product on the market. The rest of the stuff out there will confuse you....Its like finding that special pizza joint, on the box it says, you\'ve tried the rest, now you have the best....

Richiebee,

I still think we need to have you write a memoir of life at the track.....

Hope to see you guys next year at KEE and if you guys do the trip to OAklawn, I\'m in too.

Good to hear from you Don Antonio.

The memoir you mentioned is one many might want to read, but many would probably pay
me not to write.

Hope to see you at the Spa this summer.
