Title: Keeneland Grass
Post by: Fairmount1 on April 24, 2016, 06:44:26 PM
Starting at this meet, Keeneland now has inner rails at 4 settings (zero, 10, 15, and 20 feet) but the timing system only has 2 permanent settings (zero and 15 feet).

Just curious, are you relying upon hand times for the races with the rails at 10 and 20 feet?  I know time isn\'t the only component in determining a TG figure but just wanted to know how you are dealing with the surely inaccurate times.

Fair-- We use hand times to check track times. When we use ours instead of theirs you will see \"Time\"? next to the figure.

Pace effects final time in grass races a lot, we\'re much more flexible in making variants. Fortunately grass horses are much more consistent than dirt horses, if you use ground, weight and have a solid data base, grass figures are pretty easy. The exceptions come when the only grass race of the day is maidens with a lot of first time turf, etc.
