Title: Oaklawn Infield
Post by: Fairmount1 on April 17, 2016, 03:55:20 PM
I need to publicly thank several TG board members that helped secure excellent experiences in my travels.

The last three weekends have been a whirlwind but completely worth it.  If you ever get the chance to attend any of these events, I am certain you will enjoy the experience.

Johnnym helped me with the info to obtain tickets to the Florida Derby when Gulfstream made it seem they were sold out months in advance.  I met John and his wife at the track and his enthusiasm for reading the TG numbers and preparing for the Derby is strong!!

FrankD clued me in on Bluegrass Day by private message and I used a horse that I otherwise would have eliminated out of stubborness to secure the Big Apple/Bluegrass P4.

And the biggest thanks of all to shanahan.  Guys, if shanahan ever suggests that you let him know when you are in town, I\'d suggest you do it.  I had shared private messages with him before last year\'s Derby but hadn\'t even met him in person until Rebel Day this year.  Yesterday, among my many wanderings, I was able to spend a few hours at his tent on the infield at Oaklawn at the 3/16th pole.  Shanahan had a private tent with a betting machine of his own, food, beverages, tables and chairs, two tvs with the Oaklawn feed, access to a rail view of the races, and of course, his TG cheat sheet.  While talking to some of his friends, it became evdient shanahan is \"obsessed\" with racing in their eyes.  And I just smiled both times I heard this thinking this is why I enjoy the TG board so much....because everyone is that obsessed on here.  Bill, I can\'t thank you enough as the entire day was a fantastic experience except when your 0-2-X won at 5 times the price of my 0-2-x in the same race.  Did I mention I\'m stubborn from time to time in this post?? I hope you let me know the next time you are in town so I can at least try to return the favor.

On to Kentucky.....

Richie:
Thanks for the props, it was my pleasure. Anytime I can be part of a guys bucket list story that\'s just great stuff to me.
Hopefully we can do it again in the future.

Yes on to the Derby
