Lion Heart - Loved him in the Derby and got beat by a better, faster horse. Again, there is NOBODY to run with him early and the rail helps. Smith saves more ground than most here at Pimlico and of the 3 riders that save more ground than him, only one is riding a fast horse. At 3-1 he\'s an underlay.
Borrego - not a fast horse
Little Math - overmatched
The Cliffs Edge - probable scratch, however if he runs, a total throw out. I think the KEE race was a freak effort, one he cannot duplicate. His other races are too slow to win this.
Song Of The Sword - Same as TCE, except he probably will not scratch. LOL
Sir Shack - The better of Zito\'s 2 chances. Bejarano saves more ground than ANY other rider in here overall and at Pimlico. Horse might be 0-2-X ing. (So was SJ - LOL)
Smarty Jones - is a freak. Every race save his maiden is a 0 or faster. His last 3 are neg\'s, but it\'s only a 3 point forward move from his 2yo year. Lost more ground overall than LH and still beat him. SJ would have to have to encounter a catastrophic event in order to lose this.
Imperialism - post doesn\'t help and not fast enough.
Eddington - post hurts and is no faster than Imperialism. Will be an underlay at post time.
Rock Hard Ten - has drawn the Ten hole. Stevens\' profile suggests a wide trip at Pimlico. RHT Is faster than Imp and Edd but will be an underlay at post time, possibly co-second choice with LH.
Water Cannon - overmatched
It\'s all Smarty Jones and Lion Heart thus, the race is a pass as there are no other horses with a chance offering any value.
MO,
Unless Sir Shackleton mixes things up somehow (??), I gotta believe the Preakness is just a replay of the Derby.
The only value play I see is to put LH over SJ and hope that LH stays closer to the rail and that SJ catches some traffic.
I don\'t think any of the others will be any closer than they were in Louisville.
